Dr S K Nanda IAS (Retd), former Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat and currently Director on Board of HUDCO is Patron to Lifeline Foundation since 2008. He has been the pillar of strength for the organisation, championing the cause of Highway Trauma Care. Dr Nanda has held various prestigious positions in Government of Gujarat and Government of India.
Dr Nanda will go down in history for his work as then Health Secretary, Government of Gujarat, for overseeing relief operations of the Bhuj earthquake and also ensuring that no epidemics followed that devastation.
His other areas of interest where he has left a significant imprint in policy matters are Ayurvedic Medicine, Tribal Development, Blood Donation and Consumer Affairs.

Shri Keshav Kumar IPS (Retd.),
Former Director General of Police & Director Anti-Corruption Bureau, Gujarat in Governing Body
Shri Keshav Kumar, former Director General of Police & Director, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Gujarat State is Patron of Lifeline Foundation. A champion of Road Safety all along his 35 years of his career as an IPS officer (1986 batch), he has been a Mentor to the Foundation since 2002.
Awarded with the President’s Police Medal twice, for “Meritorious Service and Distinguished Service”, he is the recipient of the coveted Wildlife Award “Sanctuary Asia Wildlife Service Award”. A former Joint Director of CBI, he evinced acute interest in Road Traffic Management, as early as in 1991, as SP of Kheda in Gujarat.
Forensic application in crime investigation is his passion and since 2021, he is training law enforcement officials at National Forensic Sciences University, Rashtriya Raksha University and Gandhinagar National Law University.
At Lifeline Foundation, he plans to give Road Safety a different dimension – an SOP for investigation of highway accidents intertwined with forensic interface. His life-long commitment to policing reflects his deep-rooted vocation towards public service.

Dr Subroto Das
Emergency Medical Services Expert &
Chair, South & Central Asian Chapter, AAEMS
Dr Subroto Das, winner of one of India’s highest civilian awards, Padma Shri for his work on Highway Trauma Care, co-founded Lifeline Foundation with the aim of reducing the 1,50,000+ annual highway deaths in India. The only Indian to be honoured with the Asian EMS Lifetime Achievement Award by the Asian EMS Council in 2015, The Times of India calls Dr Das “the country’s best known EMS expert”. He works at the cross-roads of Emergency Medical Services, Public Health, Public Safety, Trauma Care and Industrial Medicine. An Ashoka Fellow he is a Founding Member of Asian Association for EMS and Chair of its South & Central Asian Chapters.
An Eisenhower Fellow, he has been associated with projects on Road Safety and EMS supported by NITI Aayog and the EAC to the Prime Minister, being the “Technical Head” of the “Road Safety Education Committee” and the principal author of the project on “EMS Funding”, commissioned by EAC-PM in 2019. He was the 1st in India to advocate a unified national medical emergency helpline number for highways and legislation for EMS and trauma care as a fundamental right.
Dr Das is also championing two other significant issues in India through his position as Director of HSFI (Heart & Stroke Foundation of India, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Heart Association) – reducing under-5 mortality and stroke related morbidities and mortalities.

Ms Sushmita Das
Director, Baroda Life Management Pvt. Ltd. & Director, Medicare Consultancies, Vadodara
Ms Sushmita Das, co-founded Lifeline Foundation after surviving a life-threatening accident in August, 1999 on one of India’s busiest highways, ensuring others do not die on Indian highways. An alumnus of M S University, she has served as Executive Editor of Asian EMS Journal, official journal of Asian Association for EMS and also of EMSINDIA®, India’s 1st peer-reviewed EMS journal.
Sushmita Das has been part of various national and international initiatives on pre-hospital and trauma care, having worked with various Road Safety and EMS stakeholders in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
She has been a recipient of the Red & White Bravery Gold Award for Social Acts of Courage in 2003; her work has been recognized by The Limca Book of Records in 2005 and documented by Films Division of India in 2012.

Shri S K Shah

Shri S K Shah, as a champion of non-profit work, drives keen interest in the education and health sectors. Besides being on the Board of Lifeline Foundation for a decade and more, he is actively associated with Shree Jalaram Jan Seva Trust, Dharmaj, Gujarat. He is one of the trustees at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel High School, Village Gambhira, Anand. A graduate in Metallurgy from the Faculty of Technology & Engineering, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 1971, Satishbhai, as he is dearly known, spent 26 years working with IPCL (now part of RIL) in Baroda.

Dr Tamorish Kole

Prof (Dr.) Tamorish Kole is the Immediate Past President of Asian Society for Emergency Medicine, Past President of the Society for Emergency Medicine, India, Chair of Disaster Medicine Special Interest Group and member of governance committee of International Federation for Emergency Medicine (IFEM). He also serves as a Visiting Professor at University of South Wales in UK. Dr Kole is an alumnus of The International Visitor Leadership Program of US Government for the year 2013 in Crisis and Disaster Management. His interest areas are emergency care system development, Academic Emergency Medicine, Climate Change and Health, Resuscitation Science, Trauma Care, Mass Gathering Medical Care and Pandemic Response.

Dr Minoo Patel

Dr Minoo Patel, Trauma and General Surgeon with 40 years of clinical and academic experience is an alumnus of Baroda Medical College, M S University.
Following his Masters, he went on to head the Department of Surgery in the same institution.
A Visiting Fellow at Oxford and a Visiting Professor at Toronto University, Dr Patel has presented papers at various national and international conferences.
Former Dean of GMERS Medical College in Baroda, he has received various recognition including ‘Best Teacher’ Award by IMA.
A postgraduate examiner with various Indian Universities, a Senate Member of MS University, he was appointed “Covid -19 Advisor to Vadodara” by Government.

Dr C R Das

Dr Chitta Ranjan Das is a globally recognised Glass and Ceramic Technology Professional with decades of experience in industry, being one of the very early Indians to receive a doctoral degree from UK, when the subject itself was in its infancy in India.
A pioneer in his field, Dr Das spent 35 years of his professional life with the Alembic Group, changing the kaleidoscope of glass and ceramics in India.
He has worked with various leading research institutes and government organisations and authored numerous international publications. During his working years, he was a much sought-after visiting faculty and examiner across the globe including the IITs in India.

Shri M M Shah
Former Joint Director, Industrial Safety & Health
Shri M M Shah is one of the top industrial health and safety experts in the country with over 34 years of experience as a regulator. An MSU alumnus from where he did post-graduated in Industrial Metallurgy (ME) and followed it up with a Bachelors in Law from Gujarat University.
He retired as Joint Director, Industrial Safety and Health, Government of Gujarat in 2007, having joined the DISH in 1973.
He has to his credit the first ever study in India on Chrome Ulceration and its prevention; his work on silicosis accepted by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. Post Bhopal Gas Tragedy, Mr Shah worked extensively on creating audit and training processes for chemical hazards.
Strongly and passionately involved in social causes, he has led the Dakshaben Chandreshbhai Shah Medical Aid Trust for 12 years, providing medicines to thousands of elderly under-privileged suffering from chronic illnesses.
He has also put in years of work towards the upliftment of Pavagadh Digambar Jain Temples.

Shri Rathin Mazumder

Rathin Mazumder, a Founding Trustee is a retired entrepreneur with years of philanthropic activity behind him in Kolkata.
A civil engineer by academics and a 2nd generation businessman in the civil engineering and real estate space, he led his company for 40 years.
Mr Mazumder was one of the first to recognize the potential of Digha, West Bengal’s first beach destination setting up hotels, entertainment parks and civic development.
A sports enthusiast, he has been responsible for setting up youth clubs along with his brothers, promoting sports and cultural activities amongst the youth of Kolkata and around, where he has business interests.

Ms Maya Das
Housewife
Mrs Maya Das, a Founding Trustee of Lifeline Foundation is an octogenarian homemaker. Passionate about education and women empowerment throughout her life, she has been a philanthropist, helping many under-privileged children to graduate out over the years, helping them both financially and guiding them through academics.
In the formative years of the Foundation, she had been actively involved in the planning process.

Shri Nilanjan Bhattacharyya

A seasoned Media and Communications professional, Nilanjan Bhattacharyya has been associated with some of the biggest names in Media and Advertising for the last two decades. He has been associated with numerous award-winning campaigns in India and abroad and possesses an enviable body of work for Indian and multinational brands. An avid reader, Nilanjan’s other areas of interest include food, music, theatre and performing arts. He is currently working with Zee Entertainment as Vice President – Brand Solutions and is based out of Kolkata. Nilanjan has been associated with the Lifeline Foundation since its inception.

Dr Mrugank Merchant

Dr Mrugank Merchant is Chairman and Consultant Orthopaedic / Trauma Surgeon at Shubhechha Multispeciality Hospital, Vadodara having been trained at the Barnsley General Hospital in UK.
He co-founded Dr C T Mehta Rehab centre and also served as its chairman for 6 years. He has been the Chairman of EMS Vadodara, besides being the President of the Baroda Orthopedic Association and Secretary of the Baroda Chapter of Indian Menopause Society.
As an active Rotarian, he served as president of Rotary Club of Baroda and also served the Rotary International District 3060 as Assistant Governor and is actively involved in polio plus corrective surgery

Dr Bharat Gadhavi

Dr Bharat Gadhavi, the Regional Director of HCG Group of Hospitals for Gujarat & Rajasthan has been associated with Lifeline Foundation for more than a decade.
A Surgeon by profession, he is an alumnus of M S University of Baroda, Dr Gadhavi has made a name for himself in Hospital Administration since the last 20 years, commissioning green field hospitals in Gujarat.
A former member of CII’s subcommittee on Healthcare, Western Region and a former President of Association of Healthcare Providers of India, he is a member of the Gujarat Government’s Task Force for Biomedical Waste Management besides being the Founder President of Ahmedabad Hospital and Nursing Homes Association.

Dr Ketan Patel

Dr Ketan Patel (FEM, MCEM, FACEE, EBCEM) is Consultant and Head, Department of Emergency Medicine at Zydus Hospitals, Ahmedabad, having held a similar post previously at Apollo Hospitals International Ltd, Ahmedabad for 8 years. He is an MRCEM examiner and member of Editorial board – IJEM and RCEM Learnings. The 1st Emergency Physician in India to register for additional qualification of EM with the Medical Council of India, Dr Patel is an instructor for BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA), ATLS, FCCS(USA), NDPCH, Emergency USG. He was course coordinator for EMT (LIJ-USA) and Diploma in EM (Royal Liverpool Academy-UK).

Ms Gauri Wagenaar

Ms Gauri Wagenaar has more than 25 years of experience in creative thinking in The Netherlands and India. Trained initially in the History of Art (M.A. University of Leiden, The Netherlands). She has lived in two cultures and speaks six languages. She has applied herself to producing dictionaries, paper restoration, designing informatics and assisting with exhibition designs. She established and ran the Dutch Govt. trade office in Ahmedabad for 15 years. She has built strong networks across industries and taken on leadership roles, advising several non-profits and serving on educational boards. Passionate, vocal and an activist, Gauri believes in “learning by doing” and thinking pragmatically.

Shri Aloke Chattoraj, Chairman of Quality Circle Forum of India, Vadodara Chapter is Director of Shyama Prasad Mukharjee Foundation, Vadodara and CEO of “THE THIRD EYE” a consultancy firm involved in conducting Management Development Programs across India and abroad. He retired as VP (HR) from Reliance. He is also visiting faculty in various Colleges and Institutes including the Faculty of Management Studies, MSU, Vadodara. As an accredited assessor, he is associated with CCMC Mumbai in conducting assessment in various organizations. He has been a jury member in many National Level Conventions of Quality Circle Forum of India and at ICQCC – Tokyo, 2019.
